From Moscow to L.A
RootsWorld Radio #194 will kick off with the NY Afro-Colombian band Maku Sound System and tracks from their recording, Mezcla. We’ll also hear a blast of brass from Chile with Chico Trujillo, and some rhythms from the Afro-Haitian Experimental Orchestra, featuring afrobeat legend Tony Allen. Other artists on the show include Lakou Mizik (Haiti), Charles Chipanga’s gospel music from Zimbabwe ; vocal quartet Folkbeat and throat singing pop band Shono, both from Russia ; Miramar, a Puerto Rican bolero orchestra from Richmond, VA ; and modern Latin sounds from Los Angeles with Buyepongo.
